Be Squared is an abstract that I painted from paint that was left over from another painting. I had always wanted to paint an abstract with squares. To get these squares, I used small vials that were given to me when a cat of mine was very ill and needed medication. The veterinarian gave me 10 vials, each with one dose of medication. So after he completed all the meds, I washed the vials and kept them.

When I paint with vials, I use as many vials as there are colors. In this case, I used 4 vials. The outcome is rather beautiful as water tends to seek its own level. So when you paint with vials, one color will run into another color creating a third color. It is important to use colors to mix well together.

A word about the frame: I live in a very small town. There is no professional framer here. The nearest one is over 2 hours away. So, I’ve been going to thrift shops and buying frames there. This frame was originally purchased at Aaron Brothers and it is a good sturdy frame. It does have a few scratches on it. If you purchase this painting you have the option of keeping it in the frame or getting it professionally framed. I do not charge for the frame as I don’t think that would be fair to you, the buyer.
