Paint Your Pet
Date to be determined
“Paint Your Pet” is a new event being planned where both adults and children will be taught by a local artist how to transfer a photo of their pet onto paper and paint it. All art supplies will be provided.
Dates have been narrowed down to either May 2 or May 16, 2026, the first and third Saturdays in May, respectively. If this event is successful, other dates can be planned. The times being discussed would be from either 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., or 12 noon to 2 p.m. There are plans in the works to invite food trucks for lunch.
Possibly, the event could take place the weekend before Mother’s Day so children can present their artwork as a gift. These plans are fluid and may change.
There will be a fee for this event. It is tentative, but the planning committee feels that $45 per adult and $35 per child is a fair price.
The event will take place at the Cedar Grove Boarding and Grooming at 106 Mineral Drive in Ely, next door to Ely Veterinary Care. Cedar Grove Boarding and Grooming is owned and managed by Hal and Cris Ann Bybee. They also run the nonprofit organization White Pine Critter Fix. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go toward this low-cost spay and neuter organization.
It is anticipated that there will be a limit of 20 attendees. That would include both adults and children.
I will be the art instructor for the day. Dr. Jennifer Fowler of Ely Veterinary Care will be assisting with the event.
