The 9 day course begins on February 5th and finishes on February 13th, 2027. It is called Mexico in Brushstrokes: Butterflies & Bold Watercolors.
Along with other activities, I will be giving instructions on not only painting butterflies, but the beautiful surroundings of the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, outside of Mexico City, Mexico in the Valle de Bravo area.
Painting what you see encourages you to slow down, notice habitat details, and understand that beauty depends on protection. In this way, a watercolor lesson in the reserve becomes more than an art class: it becomes an experience of place, ecology, and cultural respect, where technique and wonder develop side by side. It is a spectacle to behold and an incredible opportunity to document it in painting form.
You will:
LEARN: Discover the foundations of watercolor in a supportive environment. You’ll learn how to mix clean, vibrant colors (without “muddy” results), create dynamic shadow tones, and transfer images onto watercolor paper.
PRACTICE: Daily creative sessions, giving you dedicated time to paint, experiment, and grow. You’ll also be encouraged to continue practicing between sessions, with guidance and support available throughout.
GROW: Gain confidence through live demonstrations, one-on-one guidance, and encouraging group feedback in a relaxed, creative atmosphere.
COME AWAY WITH: A beautifully illustrated art journal, watercolor techniques and tools, and a deeper, more mindful way of traveling.
